Mission Statement & Pillars

The overall purpose of parent-teacher associations (PTA) is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. The mission of the Hamden PTA Council is to fulfill this purpose by working to uphold the following pillars:

Equity

The Hamden PTA Council will work to provide equity in PTA resources, opportunities, and representation so that all children in Hamden Public Schools have access to the benefits of the PTA purpose.

Engagement

The Hamden PTA Council will focus on engagement activities for our students, families, and teachers to foster a sense of belonging in our individual schools as well as our larger Hamden community.

Enrichment

The Hamden PTA Council will work with the district administration and district educators to bring additional resources, activities and opportunities to all Hamden students that will serve to enrich their educational experience.

Collaboration

The Hamden PTA Council will serve as a vehicle for collaboration and support for our individual PTAs within our district. Each PTA will have their own voice within the council.

Inclusion

The Hamden PTA Council will strive to provide an inclusive environment for all of our students, families, and volunteers. With each activity, project, or event that the council supports, we will ensure that equitable access and inclusion will be a priority.
